Workplace stress is costing Britain up to 3.75 billion pounds a year and causing the annual loss of an estimated 9.8 million working days through work-related stress in 2009/10.

According to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), 1.3 million people who worked during the last year were suffering from an illness (long standing as well as new cases) they believe were caused or made worse by their current or past work. 555,000 of these were new conditions which started during the past year.

A futher 0.8 Million former workers (who lasted worked over 12 months ago) were suffering from an illness which was caused or made worse by their past work.
